“Tis the Season” to be Grateful for our Pets

This Thanksgiving our family made a Gratitude Tree. Everyone wrote down what they were thankful for on cutout leaves and hung the leaves with ribbon on a decorative pine tree. As you can imagine, MANY of the leaves were the names of our pets; past and present. As any pet owner knows and feels, whether big, small, furry, or bald, our animals make our best days better! During the next couple of blogs, we are going to feature pets and incredible anecdotes about why their owners are grateful for them!

Meet Chloe from Levittown, PA

12-year-old Jack is the owner of Chloe and says, “Guinea Pigs make great pets for kids to own because they are gentle, and don’t bite much at all. He loves Chloe very much and likes to hold her and pet her head while watching TV. She is a good stress reliever for everyone in the house. She loves hiding in her box in her cage. They are truly animals of prey as they react to the slightest noises and movements by people. They need their timothy hay, food pellets, and water all the time, but we also give her lettuce, carrots, and sometimes watermelon as a treat. We are so thankful for Chloe!”

Meet Luna from Chicago, IL

John and Joyce are the owners of Luna and recently had her walk down the aisle with them at their wedding. They shared the following about Luna!

“We are so grateful for our Mini Australian Shepherd, Luna. She came into our lives in January of 2020, just months before the world changed. Luna became our reason to get out of the house. With both of us home from work all day we would go to the dog park three times a day with walks mixed in between.

During this time, we were able to spend so much time with her and really bond with her in her formative months as a puppy, and we got to watch her personality come out more each day. We really lucked out; Luna is incredibly sweet, loving and a total pack dog. She is by our side whenever we are home and would rather be in the car with us running errands, than stuck at home alone.

No matter what day you have had at work, Luna’s greeting upon arriving home is always able to brighten your mood instantly.

She has made us more disciplined in our daily habits and we spoil her as the ‘first child’ ????. We are so grateful to have Luna in our lives for so many reasons and could not imagine life without her.”

Meet Finn from Haddonfield, NJ

Karen is Finn’s owner, and he is her furry best friend! She shared the following about their daily routine!

“So today I started out my day like I always do with Finn hopping in the car and heading with me to the Starbucks Drive Through, where they greet him with a HI FINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He wags his tail and is sitting right next to me with his head trying to get to the window and lick the Baristas who love him! The cup they hand me with morning coffee says “HI FINN! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!”

Next, we head to the fields for our morning walk of five thousand steps and this morning he was in orbit; there was frost on the ground, the air was crisp, and he ran around and rolled on the ground with so much Lab Happiness! The simplest things are the absolute best things- a walk, a sloppy dog kiss, Finn gazing up at me with endless affection and love and no barking- BLISS!

He is at the center of our family, and we are thrilled he is “best friends” with Luna (featured above).  Finn was in Chicago with all of us on November 20 for John and Joyce’s wedding. Finn and Luna were in doggie joy and surrounded by family love!

We are filled with love and gratitude for our doggie who is at the heart of our family and gives us the unconditional love, gazes of sheer connection and keeps us grounded on the tough days with his happiness!”
