From Waffle's New Forever Home:
Molson "Waffle" has been doing great since we adopted him in May! He's now about 5 months old and weighs around 20-25 pounds! He gets along great with his big brother, Chewy, and they play all the time! I attached some pictures for you!

From Finnigan’s (now Tobie) New Forever Home:
On April 21, 2011, we lost our beloved Taylor Joseph to cancer. There was no warning; he was never sick. We had no chance to cure him. By the time he did get sick, it was too late to save him. The cancer had spread too far. As I held him in my arms, he looked up at me with his sad, knowing eyes, kissed me twice, and then went to Heaven. His daddy, grandma, and I sank into the deepest, darkest hole imaginable. The sudden loss of our sweet boy seemed too much to bear. Each day the emptiness of life without him surrounded us.
We knew we wanted to eventually get another little one, so I began my internet search of rescues, breeders, adoption websites, figuring that someday our new little soul would be brought to us, hopefully at least by Christmas. But a miracle happened just one short week after beginning my search:
On Friday, May 6th, I entered my usual search criteria – and a miracle happened. There, on my computer screen, was FINNIGAN! His beautiful face with kind, smiling eyes, looked out at me and the sun returned to my world. I called Earl immediately, yelling into the phone:
“I FOUND HIM! I FOUND HIM! IT’S A MIRACLE!”
As I phoned LCR, I prayed and prayed that you would still have him. I knew I couldn’t stand losing him. Finnigan was still at LCR, waiting for us … his new Mommy and Daddy. On Saturday, May 7th, we held our little boy for the first time – and re-christened him as Tobie. He slept peacefully in my lap the entire way home. The love that we lost when Taylor died returned to us through our blessed Tobie.

From Sam's New Forever Home:
We recently adopted Sam, a Westie-Poo mutt, and I just wanted you to know how much we love him and how well he is adjusting to his new home. He now follows our older black lab around the house and yard all day. They are quickly becoming best friends. I've sent two pictures for you to see. The first one is his favorite spot. He monitors all the activity in the back yard from this air conditioned windowsill. The second photo is of Sam and his buddy Potter. Thank you so much for all you do and for being so patient with us when he were deciding if Sam was right for us. Now we can't imagine life without him. He is such a love!

From Nick's Forever Home:
July 30, 2011: We would like to take this time to thank the people at Last Chance Ranch for giving us the opportunity to foster one of your rescue dogs for the past year or so. My wife, Donna, has been a volunteer at the ranch for almost two years. When she first approached me about fostering a dog I was not very keen on the idea as we were already a household of three rescue dogs, two from the ravishes of hurricane Katrina and a sweet five year old Pomeranian from the ranch, whom we adopted. Nick was an elderly, guesses range from between 14 and 18 years old, elder statesman when he was brought to the ranch from a home where he was no longer wanted. It was with some mixed feelings I agreed to take Nick. In the little over the year Nick lived with us we came to love that little dog. He was playful, loving and every bit a part of our family. Allow me to tell you about Nick. Nick suffered from a form of canine dementia and would do some funny things; walking around in circles for an hour or more; getting stuck in a corner or under furniture and not being able to get free. Nick was somewhat deaf, but made up for it by being able to tell time; he always started barking right at dinner time; waking at odd hours of the night and carrying on; sleeping on “his” pillow. But what Nick loved best was his snacks of dog biscuits and treats. Nick suffered seizures over the time we had him and they got progressively worse. Yesterday Nick had a massive seizure and had to be put down. It was a very hard day for us. We would like to say thank you for allowing us to get to know Nick and sharing the past year with him.
Rest assured that although Nick arrived at the Ranch because he was unwanted; he left this world loved. Fostering a dog has been a rewarding experience.

From Baby's Forever Home: I just wanted to let someone know that Baby (Babette) has passed away from cancer. We adopted her from the Last Chance Ranch in January of 2010. We only had about a year and a half with her, but what a wonderful time we had with her. She was such a great addition to our family! I knew adopting an older dog had some risk with it, but I am glad for the time we had with her. And how spoiled she became! Thanks for sharing her with us!! - Cindy |

From Pokey's New Forever Home: Attached is a current picture of Pokey from the LCR Dog Walk. I think the picture turned out really well. He has a big smile on his face and is showing off his good tooth. Pokey has changed a lot in the two years that I have had him. He has gone from a fear-aggressive dog that got picked up by his head by two larger dogs to a friend of the neighborhood dogs. He is such a unique, pleasant and happy dog. Even though Pokey is an older dog, he still acts like a puppy. Pokey is looking forward to the LCR Dog Walk next year so that he can make more canine friends. Thanks for saving Pokey! -- Gina |
