Everyone must follow LCR’s adoption procedures:

(1) Application, (2) Reference Checks, (3) Visit, (4) Adoption Finalization.

WE WILL NOT ADOPT A DOG TO YOU WITHOUT AN APPLICATION AND REFERENCE CHECKS.

While we can accommodate a visit “just to look”, please understand that we may have other interested parties with approved applications interested in the same pet.  Please also review the advice for preparing for your visit below before you come.

PREPARING FOR YOUR VISIT:

Keep the weather in mind as your visit may be conducted outdoors.

Do not wear your best clothes and do wear comfortable “old shoes”, especially if the weather has been wet.

Be prepared to take your chosen dog home.  Have somebody with you to hold your dog.  Bring along a towel or old blanket for your dog to lie on in the car, or have a crate available to use.

Ask questions!  Our adoption counselors should be able to answer any questions about your dog’s behaviors, habits, and personalities.

If you are adopting a buddy for an existing pet, DO bring your pet along for the visit.

Do bring family members that will be living with your new pet.  We want everyone to be part of the choosing process so that all will be happy with their new family member.

Be on time!  Appointments are often scheduled very close together, especially on Saturdays.  We can process applications much more efficiently if you arrive at your scheduled time. 

 CANINE SURRENDER:

 LCR cannot guarantee a space for your dog.  However, if you would like us to consider taking your dog to be put up for adoption, you will need to fill out and submit a Canine Surrender Form (available below).
