DO YOU KNOW
ME???
They are all a mystery to us...too bad they can't talk! If anyone ever recognizes any of the LCR horses, please let us know.
This is Jake! with a diamond brand on his left hip, do you recognize it? more info on Jake
This 7 year black mare was purchased from the butchers pen on 11/05/01. The story we were told is that she destroyed someone's driving cart. Maybe they thought she was a Standardbred and knew how to drive, obviously not. We have found out she has been worked with quite a bit with the Natural Horsemanship method. she is very well trained and very responsive. Whim has a freeze brand on her left hind flank with a 94. This may be a ranch number or the number for the year she was born. Also, she has a clubbed foot. Most of the front of the hoof has been reconstructed with plastic/epoxy. X-rays reveal a slight rotation to the coffin bone. She deals with her deformation well and is sound enough for riding, just to have her thrown away like this. Please help, we are looking for the farrier who worked on her or anyone that can shed some light as to where she came from and how she ended up like this and at a Rescue. Not Available for adoption until her hoof grows out, this could be months. . .
__________________________________________________ ![]() Part One His Name is "Numbers Only" but we call him Tucker. He has a tattoo on his upper lip.. .no letter...numbers only, hence the name. We bought him at the New Holland Auction. If LCR had not intervened Tucker would have gone to slaughter. He's a great horse and we'd like to know more about him. He's quite large - 17 hands, a gelding and quite the ladies man. He's definitely a keeper! His previous owner took very good care of him so it's a mystery as to why he wound up at the auction. Please contact us if you have any information whatsoever about this horse...Tucker is not currently available for adoption. We are hoping to use him in a new police search and rescue program. Part Two We now know that Tucker is really St. Bar's Saylor, a racing Quarter Horse! He is a TB, Quarter Horse Cross. We were very lucky to have a friend track him down by his tat too. Saylor had a very happy home in Massachusetts with people who loved him very much...so much that when they found out what happened to him they immediately came down to Pennsylvania to visit him. They brought with them his blanket and his favorite treats. His previous owners were horrified to find out that somehow he had slipped through the cracks and almost wound up on someone's dinner plate in Europe! Saylor came from a large Stable with 30+ horses and another 30+ boarders. When someone approached his owners at a show with an offer to buy him they thought he would be going to a home where he would get the special attention he deserved...they thought they were doing him a favor. Unfortunately 4 years later his new owners decided to sell him and were too impatient to wait for a private buyer and sold him that same day to a dealer. This dealer brought him to auction with nary a thought as to how special Saylor really is!Saylor is extremely lucky that Lori was at the auction that fateful day this past November. She took one look at him and knew he was not meant for the butchers. She bid on him until she felt his price was high enough to be safe from the butchers. Lori then found out that he was indeed bought by a butcher who is known to load the horses up and drive directly to the Canadian slaughter houses...no stops along the way. She immediately approached the butcher and bought him for $50.00 above what the butcher had just paid! It was definitely fate that brought Saylor to us. As soon as Lori got off the phone with Lisa, his owner from Massachusetts, she called out Saylor's' name from the back door...out of the 12 or so horses out back that day "Tucker" was the only one that looked up...he knew his real name and wanted to see who was calling him!! When he retires, he will go back to his home in Massachusetts where he was so happy. There's more to the mystery but currently we are not at liberty to say more out of respect for someone's personal privacy. Hopefully we will be able to further update Saylor's story soon. Lets just say he has had a somewhat "famous" past!! 12/14/01 UPDATE: Tucker/Saylor has been adopted by his previous owners and is doing extremely well. We will have an update shortly from his new/old home. We would love to tell you more about Saylor's "famous past", and answer the your questions from the guestbook, but unfortunately we do not have permission yet to reveal this information. All we can say at this time is that a well known actor used to ride Saylor as a lesson horse. ![]() |
