Hi, I'm Hero..

It seems we were incorrect on Hero...he really is "Captain Star" a registered Standardbred. Hero was moved to a Standardbred farm in NJ. His new foster family still calls him Hero  for all he has been through. Hero is now slowly being put under saddle with baby steps forward. He has become a great baby sitter for some frightened youngsters. Hero has been taken off the available list. We feel, at this time he will remain with his foster family who have made such great progress with him. He seems to be very happy.

I am a 15.2hh 12 year old Standardbred gelding. I was purchased from an auction with my back in excruciating pain. LCR treated me, with the advice of the vet, for a fractured pelvis. I spent almost 5 months in a stall. As I healed I was slowly hand walked, and was allowed to graze with someone holding me. Then the day came when they opened my door and allowed me to go out on my own in a small paddock. I was thrilled, and felt great. I even tried to play a little. From there I moved up to a larger turnout area where I've been finishing my healing. I'm sound now and ready to go back to work. I just need to take it slowly because I haven't gotten all of my strength back yet. I was on the racetrack but even though I ran quite a few races, I didn't earn very much money. I do know how to drive, but haven't done it in awhile, and I don't think I'd mind if someone rode me too.
