Applications and placement information on this page applies to horses only.

Thank you for your  interest in becoming a guardian for one of LCR's horses. You must fill out an application before you visit. Once we receive your application we will contact you to meet the horse you are interested in, or recommend an alternative horse that may be better suited to your needs. We try and match people with the horses the best we can.

Some of the horses available are not on this property and special arrangements must be made to visit with them. Some of the sounder, more fit horses get placed quickly, so get your apps in early. We may have a waiting list for a particular type of horse, ask us for more info on waiting list horses.
* Please note, we are only trying to find appropriate permanent homes for these wonderful horses. We want to make sure they will fit in as a new family member for you. Once we receive your application the process can take a week to 10 days, depending on your availability, so be sure you are ready to take on the
responsibility of a large animal like this. Also, they are herd animals and must live with at least one other of their kind.

We have been flooded with horses wanting to come through our program and there is a waiting list of people wanting to adopt specific horses. We will take all applications into consideration, but some horses may never hit the adoption corral due to their high adoptability. All new horses will be coming to LCR for an evaluation period so we can better understand them and match each horse with its appropriate new home.

We have many horses available from youngsters needing training, to mature ready to ride. Ponies to drafts and every breed in between. Some, but not all, our horses have physical limitations. Some of the horses available are not listed here, they may be in rehab! Send us your application today so we can find you a new family member!

Remember we are all volunteers giving our spare time to help those beautiful horses in need, please be patient if we do not answer you right away. Feel free to contact us again if you have any questions about our policies, horses, volunteer opportunities, etc. many of your questions may be answered through this web site. Please peruse and if you see something missing or you'd like to see something added, email webmaster with website in the subject. we'd love to hear from you!

Please view the Placement (adoption) Application & Placement Agreement. Applications must be downloaded, completed and mailed to Last Chance Ranch. before you will be consider as a guardian.
Please do not e-mail applications as they are difficult to read. Applications must be received and reviewed prior to making appointments to view the horses that are for adoption.
Please be aware that while we do have horses that may be ridden, some horses have abilities that may be limited due to their physical condition. We have a variety of horses in all shapes sizes, ages, and abilities. Please view each horse's biography carefully.
Information about adoptable horses is updated on a regular basis and is the most current information available about the horse at this time. The fees listed are the one time "lease" or Placement fee and are subject to change. These fees are based on the health and ability of the horse and in general do not cover our costs for these horses.
All horses have a recent negative coggins test, current on all vaccinations we recommend, farrier needs, teeth floated, and are as healthy as they can be. Remember, the fee we request is a donation to help cover some of the costs we incur. Most horses cost LCR, on average, $500-$800 the first month they are here just in the basic care. The cheapest thing you will ever pay for is the cost of the horse. Be prepared to pay $200 - $400+ per month to care for your new friend, just in the basics he/she will need. Vet and additional expenses can be extreme. This is a decision to own a horse that is a huge responsibility.
See Basic Care and Guidelines for more information..

Please call in advance for appointments, as our residents are abused, neglected and unwanted horses and they come from many backgrounds and disciplines and   vary in degrees of rehabilitation and behaviors. Thanks!
