KALIBER CHROME

UPDATE: We have done
extensive testing, biopsies, blood work, mineral analysis, skin tests, allergy
testing and more and have tried a multiple course of treatments. We have found
that steroids relieved his symptoms of itching and pain, but only treated for
symptoms, not a cure. Chrome is now undergoing allergy treatment of his own
formula. It seems to be working. As of today, January 28th, 2004, he has had 28
days of allergy medicine. He seems to be revealing some pink skin under his
healing sores. We don't know if this is a remission or a cure or just a lucky
couple of weeks, but we will continue in this direction as long as he feels
good.
We, LCR, our volunteers, and
especially Chrome want to thank everyone for all the emails and assistance you
have all offer to help remedy Chrome's problems. We wanted to return all emails
personally but it became too overwhelming after the first 300 or so. Please know
how much we appreciate you all and your efforts to help. If you would like to be
added to our mailing list membership for informative
newsletters and information, send us your address with a donation of your
choosing (to help cover some of our costs) to:

Chrome has become a real character and is very playful with all the other
horses. Since he has been feeling better his true horsonality has shown through.
Once he has been stabilized he will be available for a new home. Let us know if
you are interested in having this jokester living with you.

Hi, I'm Kaliber
Chrome!!! I
have a problem that maybe someone can help me with. See my photos below!

I'm
losing my hair. I was born in March 1995. I am a registered
(Breeding stock) American Paint. I have great conformation and a wonderful
attitude. Approximately 4 years ago I was in training as a cutting horse
until my skin irritation made it too uncomfortable to be ridden anymore. I
have been treated with Steroids, topicals, internals, and nothing has
seemed to clear things up for me. We are undergoing more tests and
findings will be posted as we acquire them.
If anyone has any suggestions or has been through something like this
please contact lbenetz@lastchanceranch.org
Please do not email to ask for updates...we will post when we know and
everything we know at the time.
