LCR Junior Rescuer’s Club & 4H Program

The Junior Rescuer’s Program is designed to organize, teach and supervise young volunteers. Whether new to horses and barn chores or having experience and looking to expand their knowledge, we have something for everyone.  This program is an LCR Junior Rescuers volunteer club.  LCR is dedicated to making a difference and expanding the knowledge of horse owners and potential owners. We want to educate the public about the hardship and neglect many equines endure due to ignorance and lack of knowledge.

Club members will learn through hands on, special clinics and seminars everything about horses short of riding.  They will be learning the Level I & II of the LCR Natural Horsemanship Program. Members are also welcome to join the LCR Natural Horsemanship lesson program for individual attention and riding experience.

The club will have one business meeting per month, unless otherwise noted.  Business meetings will be held on the 1st Wednesday of every month.  The club will also meet on the 2nd  Saturday of the month for hands on practical work with the horses.  Other Saturdays you are welcome to help on the Ranch working with the horses (in some way) and doing barn maintenance, projects or scheduled events.  The club will schedule other days that will be spent off site doing fundraisers or other events. Additional events will be scheduled on an availability basis.

Some of the onsite chores to be done include but are not limited to:

sawdust, tub cleaning, pasture maintenance, manure removal, fence painting, barn cleaning, horse handling, grooming, stall cleaning and tack cleaning.

 Other opportunities will include:

Store front fundraising and promotion:  with the store’s permission and a parent’s help, volunteers may set up a table at a store to hand out information about LCR, and sell T-shirts and other merchandise.

Change-jar fundraising, newsletter, and brochure placement at tack shops, pet stores, vets, and small merchants. These places are often willing to display items on their counters.

LCR is looking to build relationships between children and adults with a “hands on” working atmosphere and after school activities.  We are always looking for ideas and suggestions so please let us know.  We also need ideas and places for fundraisers as well as adult volunteers to help with the upcoming projects and events.
