Grumpy is a 2 -3 year old registered QH, at least, that is what we were told.  He supposedly has QH points in halter and is from the Impressive line, but we never saw the papers. That doesn’t matter though; papers won’t do him any good unless he wants to eat them for a snack.  We named him Grumpy, because he is. He has learned that if he acts mean, people will go away. He had a really rough time of things before he came to LCR. We were contacted by a dealer about another colt, Stitch, who was injured and the dealer asked if we wanted him too. He said he’s in a bad way and not very nice. He told us he had gone through Strangles and lost a lot of weight and just wasn’t getting better. We agreed we’d take him. Although he was over the Strangles, we still put him into quarantine due to a runny noise. He was emaciated in the truest sense of the word. He was as skinny as Angel and in terrible condition. His hair and skin were falling off due to rain rot. You could trace every bone in his body. He is very food aggressive, but you can understand why. He must have had to fight for his food and he learned that the more aggressive he was the more food he got. This is slowly changing. Our experienced volunteers work with his food aggression and behavior. His lack of respect is dealt with daily and naturally.

Grumpy has put on at least 250 pounds and gaining daily. He is supposed to be rideable and a gentleman under saddle, but at this age you can’t expect much. Grumpy needs a new, better name, and a patient understanding family to love him forever.
